The Medical Reserve Corps Mission

The Issaquah MRC is collaboration between Issaquah Citizen Corps Council and the City of Issaquah. The Issaquah MRC will actively assist the community with its public health issues and health-related care during crises, emergencies, and disasters, including pandemic situations. Our goal is to organize a group of volunteer medical, non-medical personnel, CERTs, other related organizations and concerned individuals to prepare, train and respond to emergencies in coordination with local fire and police departments and city staff.

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Program is vital to the community by helping medical, public health and other volunteers by offering their expertise year-round as well as during emergencies and other times of community need. MRC volunteers work in collaboration with local emergency response programs and to enhance existing community public health initiatives, such as outreach and prevention, immunization programs, blood drives, case management, care planning, and other efforts. The MRC program is administered by HHS.

• MRC is comprised of units that are community-based and aim to organize and utilize local volunteers who want to donate time and expertise to prepare for and respond to emergencies and promote healthy living throughout the year. MRC volunteers will augment existing emergency and public health resources.
• MRC volunteers include medical and public health professionals such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, and epidemiologists. Other volunteer opportunities are available to non-medical Personnel as well to fill key support positions.
• Another goal of MRC units is to help with improve health literacy and education while working towards disease prevention, bridging the gap to help eliminate health disparities while working toward public health preparedness.
• MRC volunteers can choose to support communities in need nationwide.
