ICC Net

— filed under:

The Issaquah Citizen Corps Ham Radio Net meets weekly to practice communication skills and perform training activities.

Ham licensed Citizen Corps volunteers are welcome and encouraged to participate in the ICC Net (ICCN). The net follows the standard ARRL net protocols for a directed net.

In the event of a large scale emergency Issaquah CERT uses the ICCN to coordinate CERT activities among volunteers and other organizations. Activities may be as simple as organizing and directing response teams to actively setting up shelters and coordinating inventories. In a disaster cell phone networks are typically overwhelmed or completely inoperable and can not be relied on. While typical emergency services attempt to cope with the disaster, ham radio much of the time is the only way to provide the responding organizations the communications infrastructure that they require.

Any licensed ham is welcome to check in on the weekly net. The ICCN meets each Sunday evening at 6:30 PM using the Fire Repeater at the top of Squak Mountain. The Fire Repeater is located at a frequency of 444.525 MHz with and offset of +5 MHz utilizing a PL tone of 103.5 Hz.

The current ICCN net control schedule can be found on this page and the following net control script is used to operate the directed net. In addition, there is a roll call sheet used to call for regular check ins to the net.
