This page provides opportunities for citizens to maintain their emergency preparedness skills and obtain new ones. This is accomplished through training, exercises, drills and engagement with other organizations.

Incident Command System:

Anyone who wishes to become a City of Issaquah volunteer, Emergency Worker or MRC volunteer is encouraged to take the IS-100 and IS-700 online training. This is free and qualifies for a FEMA certification.

IS-100.b - Introduction to Incident Command System, ICS-100 - available on-line at http://training.fema.gov/emiweb/is/is100b.asp

IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction - available at http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/is700.asp

Details of additional on-line courses (IS-200 and IS-800) can be found at http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/ICSResource/TrainingMaterials.htm along with details of instructor lead classroom classes for IS-300 and IS-400.

American Red Cross Shelter training:

Every year or two the ICC arranges American Red Cross Shelter training. The most recent training was held on February 25 in Issaquah. This full day of training helps us understand the operation of an American Red Cross shelter and the skills are directly applicable to the opening of a Community Shelter here is Issaquah. This class may also be available through local ARC chapters. Please note, this training does not qualify you as an American Red Cross volunteer.

Food Worker Card:

Obtaining or renewing an Food Worker Card for the state of Washington can be done at www.foodworkercard.wa.gov.  This card is essential if you ever plan to volunteer during a disaster and might be handling food.
